Hard times for Darko’s sister, due to be released across Europe on the 21^st of august. Out in the States on May, the movie got boycotted from the start: die-hard fans of the first chapter didn’t want Donnie’s memory to fall under the classic commercial sequel. Thus, the boycotting. Started on Facebook: here’s the claim of the “Boycotting S.Darko” group.

“On May 9th 2008, a sequel to the cult hit Donnie Darko was announced in the form of S Darko - a movie involving Donnie's younger sister Samantha.

While this movie will have Daveigh Chase reprising her role as Samantha, there will be no involvement from Richard Kelly (the original's director), nor the familiar faces of Jake Gyllanhaal and the rest of the original cast that we all loved so much.

Please let this movie die a horrible death like it deserves.”

This said, it will take a month to know if european moviegoers will like it or not. If they’ll go and see it AT ALL.
